To illustrate this book, I chose to mix many techniques: painting, collages and embroidery. For the character’s hair I used stands of glued wool, to give the appearance of dolls. In some clothes and curtains, I did some freestyle embroidery and glued beads as well. On some of the doll’s clothes I used some fabrics that were reminiscent of African fabric just to match with the story’s atmosphere.
The book was selected to be in the Catalogue for the “Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil (National Foundation for Children and Youth Books) – FNLIJ” for the 46th Bologna Fair – Italy, in 2009 (Re-edition Category).
